Boxing---Headgear

In our dojo, Sensei Ivan encourages the participation of students and Senseis from any and all styles. We have had "guest Senseis" with entirely different backgrounds teach class. If you ask any experienced martial artist what the "best style" is, he or she will tell you that we are all climbing the same mountain, perhaps by different paths, but all towards the identical goal - that of perfecting ourselves.

We are all brothers and sisters in this common pursuit, and we really should continually strive to offer all aid and assistance to those students climbing the slopes behind us, no matter what race, sex, creed, religion, national origin, or specific Martial Arts style.

Sensei Ivan Ugarte - Triunity's Head Instructor
History of Hawaiian Kenpo Karate
There are many “styles” of Karate. Some, like many Korean styles, emphasize long-range kicking. Others, like Chinese Kung Fu (the “original Karate”), emphasize circular movements and fighting methods modeled after animal behaviors. Aikido and Jujitsu use leverage and joint locks to manipulate aggressors. Japanese Karate styles are often closely linked with Japanese Shotokan Karate with a short forward stance and strong punches, kicks, and blocks.

Our style, Kenpo, emphasizes “closing the gap” and in-fighting, with many short-range punches, kicks, and elbow strikes. Another unique facet of our Hawaiian Kenpo style is the incorporation of Judo, Jujitsu, and Aikido techniques (Grandmaster Bill Ryusaki also holds a 7th degree black belt in Judo).
Karate is a martial art. “Martial” comes from the Latin martialis, meaning “pertaining to Mars”, the ancient Roman god of war. Obviously, when training people in potentially deadly techniques, a great deal of control must be exercised over students to prevent injuries. The person who both teaches and watches over us is our Sensei (pronounced “SEN-say”), a Japanese word meaning “teacher”. To become a Sensei, one must first be promoted to the rank of black belt.

Partly because of the subject matter, and partly due to the traditions passed down to us from its Japanese heritage, Karate requires strict obedience, careful attention, and respect for the instructor. The teacher, or Sensei, may dismiss anyone from activities at any time if he or she feels that that individual is creating a disturbance or otherwise endangering the safety of themselves or of other students. If you or your child are students in our dojo, please take a few minutes to go over the
“RULES OF THE DOJO”. While some regulations may seem strict when compared with your previous experiences, please remember that the ultimate outcome of following the rules is ensuring everyone’s safety and enjoyment of the classes.

Philosophy of Hawaiian Kenpo Karate

The 25 concepts of Hawaiian Kenpo Karat are words that every Hawaiian Kenpo Karate student will try to achieve on their road to Black Belt. The student will also comprehend that many of the concepts are and can be used in their everyday life (At home, school, work and their social life).

What is Cardio Kick boxing?

This workout borrows moves from the Thai sport of kick boxing to make participants work up a sweat. Our qualified instructors leads the group through specific punches and kicks, usually to the beat of dance-club music. The moves are worked into swiftly executed combinations (for example: jab, cross punch, hook, uppercut, front kick). Sometimes we mix in a few minutes of jumping rope (often as a warm-up) and conditioning drills which can include jumping jacks, sideways scooting steps.

What are the benefits of Cardio Kick boxing?

This type of excercies provides "a full-body workout."  If you do the punches with precision and power, you'll strengthen your upper body and eventually see more muscle definition. The kicks will strengthen your legs, especially the hamstrings. And the kneeing move (a strike in which you thrust your bent knee upward) will firm your abdominal muscles; in fact, all of the moves, when done correctly, will make your torso into a solid base that lets you do everyday tasks more easily.

Your cardiovascular system will benefit, too, though how much depends on what you put into the class. The more you put in, the more you get out.  Either way, a good class will leave you drenched in sweat and energized.

What's more, a lot of people find kick boxing a great way to release stress. Punching, kicking and participating in a series of moves gets your heart rate pumping and energy elevating. What better way to combat life's every day stresses than with some kick boxing?  Try it today!

(((Kundalini YOGA)))
What is Kundalini Yoga?
Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is an energetic form of yoga which combines physical exercises, breathing techniques, meditation, and mantra. It stimulates the glandular, nervous, and immune systems as well as builds muscle tone and increases flexibility. Known as the "yoga of awareness," it focuses on self-awareness and delivering an experience of your highest consciousness.

Who can do Kundalini Yoga?
Everyone can! Men and women of all ages and body types enjoy Kundalini Yoga.

What if I’ve had an injury? What if I’m pregnant? Can I still participate?
Yes. However, please inform your instructor before class begins of any health concerns you may have. Only you know your body best so it is important to listen to what your body tells you and to stick with modified postures or sit them out altogether if need be.
